December 2006
Dear CBBF Website Readers:
We would like to take this opportunity to offer you and your families our best wishes of health and happiness for the holiday season and for the New Year. We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to our athletes, officials, promoters and sponsors for their hard work and dedication throughout 2006.
This year has been highlighted by several significant challenges and successes.
We had three outstanding CBBF national events this year that provided a path forward for Canadian athletes into the IFBB Professional Divisions and to the IFBB Amateur World Championships. In fact, some of our Team Canada athletes took top-5 positions at the 2006 IFBB World Championship events.
As always the CBBF attempts to keep abreast of changes in our sport and at the 2006 CBBF AGM the General Assembly agreed to adopt changes for the 2007 events, to benefit athletes in all disciplines and to keep our CBBF athletes competitive at all levels of the IFBB.
We would like to thank our 2006 promoters, Cabel McElderry, for his promotion of the Figure, Master Figure and Fitness Championships, Jim Morris and Norm Jacobs for the National World Qualifier and Harvey Viteychuk for the Canadian Bodybuilding Championships. I thank you for your support and for your relentless efforts at getting the job done. You should be proud of your accomplishments.
We would like to thank Dr. Ben Weider for his many years of leadership of the IFBB our governing body, who retired after over 60-years of service and wish Dr. Rafael Santonja the best as he takes over presidency of the IFBB.
To Debbie Karpenko, our Chief Judging Official and International judge, who was recognized by the IFBB in 2006 for her over 20-years of outstanding service, the members of the CBBF thank you and appreciate your dedication to our sport in Canada and abroad.
To each of our provincial associations and their executive, we thank you for working for our athletes and for your continuing efforts to advance our sport.
A large thank you goes out to Garry Bartlett, for his articles and photographs as show cased on our website and in Muscle Mag.
Finally, we wish the best to our 2007 promoters. The 2007 CBBF Canadian Figure, Master Figure and Fitness Championships will take place in Edmonton, AB on June 30th; the 2007 CBBF National World Qualifier will take place in Toronto, ON on June 16th and finally the 2007 CBBF Canadian Bodybuilding Championships in Edmonton, AB will be staged on August 18.
We hope that you and your families, and loved ones, enjoy a safe and joyous holiday season. Best wishes for 2007.

Take care,
Mark Smishek, CBBF President
